Santa Barbara Island

Santa Barbara Island is home of some amazing offshore dive sites. You can take a boat ride to reach these amazing dive sites. These areas are great for photography and hunting, as they are usually very rocky. These areas are home to healthy kelp and purple hydro coral. The visibility is also excellent for Southern California waters.

It is possible to kayak and snorkel on the island. You can also tent camp if the weather is good. You can also find a large number of pinnipeds living on the island. These include harbor seals (northern elephant seals) and California sealions. Visitors can spot these animals in the rocky areas around the sea lion rookery, which are located at a number of overlooks on the island.

Anacapa Island

Anacapa Island has a diverse marine life. The area is also home to one the United States's first Marine Protected Areas. The area is great for beginners as well as seasoned divers. The waters surrounding the island are warm enough to allow you to dive with a wetsuit. In the autumn and summer, temperatures can easily reach 70° F (21°C). However, temperatures can fall to a low of 50deg F (10deg C) during the colder months of winter. A 7mm wetsuit should be used. Visibility is usually at least 100 feet (30M) during these months.

Dive charter boats and Island Packers can access the Anacapa dive spot. There are numerous dive sites available on the island, including a 40-foot-tall arch rock. You can also view these sites from the surface of the water using snorkeling gear.
